RFPD encourages firefighters to be certified in Motor Vehicle Operations, (MVO) a rescue course designed to educate firefighters in rescue techniques related to vehicle accidents and entrapments. MVO is a twenty (20) hour course administered by the Office of the State Fire Marshall of the State of Illinois. RFPD has hosted oneMVO course with instructors provided by the Illinois Fire Service Institute. RFPD firefighters have also attended a MVO course at a neighboring fire department.
The RFPD incorporates rescue training into its regularly scheduled fire training throughout the year.
