Firefighting

We have offered several firefighter two module courses at RFPD. Recently we have also sent numerous new members to neighboring departments to attend firefighter two module courses offered at their facilities.

Fire Fighter Two certification requires 192 hours in three modules as detailed below.

  • Module A – 56 hours of classroom and practical education and training
  • Module B – 64 hours of classroom and practical education and training
  • Module C – 72 hours of classroom and practical education and training

FIREFIGHTER CONTINUING EDUCATION

While there is no state mandated hourly minimum for firefighting continuing education the members of the district recognize the need to maintain our skills and abilities and to constantly develop new and better ways to do old things. The RFPD maintains an aggressive schedule of firefighter training three nights every month and with numerous weekend training courses taught by both members and guest instructors. Our training is always open to the public, and through our affiliation with MABAS 48, to members of other districts and departments. Rochester firefighters are required to complete fifty (50) percent of all training offered to remain as active firefighters with the district.
