Professional Development

The professional nature of the fire service dictates that our volunteers be well trained initially, that we maintain our training, develop new skills and disciplines and work towards doing old things in new and better ways. Like all fire and emergency services organizations, The RFPD has acquired additional duties and responsibilities over time. These additional duties and responsibilities require increased training and development needs of our fire fighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and members. The RFPD is responsible for providing academic knowledge and practical training to maintain our abilities to provide service to the district’s citizens. The time and effort to obtain and maintain the licenses and certifications required to provide service as a member of the RFPD are listed below.

Yearly Mandatory Training

  • Sexual Harassment Training
    • Required two hour training course
  • Infectious Disease
    • Required online training course
  • SCBA 16 hours
    • Required donning, doffing, maintenance, disentanglement training
  • Lock and Tag Out
    • Require online training course related to equipment safety
